Christmas, or Xmas?

I keep hearing the phrase, “We need to put Christ back in Christmas”, by my fellow Christians, and after doing some research, I truly wonder if He was ever there to begin with! Almost every tradition related to today’s Christmas, was founded in some pagan belief. Most of which, were definitely not Christian, or Christ like!

I fully understand the desire to keep the Christians attitude there, since I am a Christian.

That attitude, to me, is, I celebrate that day, December 24th, as one special day, to remember that my Savior, Jesus Christ was born, for a specific purpose. That purpose was, to show us how a child of God should act, and a by far greater purpose, to die. Jesus came by His own choice, to be the perfect sacrifice for our sin, which man could never do for himself. In order to be that sacrifice, Jesus had to die, yes, but, the even greater thing He did, was to rise from the grave! He overcame death so we could enter Gods kingdom free from sin, to live for eternity in Heaven!

John 3:16-17King James Version (KJV)
16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Conclusion!

Yes, I celebrate Christmas, along with many others, all of the “former” pagan traditions, like the tree, the wreaths, the gift giving, the lights, and candles, but, first and foremost, I celebrate His birth, with the knowledge of what He did, at His death!

People may say or do as they wish, but I will always say “MERRY CHRISTMAS”, because, He will “always” be there, to me, for me, and with me!

Joshua 24:14-16
King James Version (KJV)
14Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD.
15And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
16And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the LORD, to serve other gods;

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Candy is dandy, if done right!

That time of the year has finally arrived! The time of the year, when in almost every decent store, you will find, what I consider to be the best candy on earth, the Queen Anne Cherry Cordial, and, they have it “on sale”! This candy crosses the pallet with a sweetness that can only be described as perfection.
I have found, since I first became aware of them, that most people don’t eat them properly, and therefore miss out on how truly great they are. Most people will pop the entire candy in the mouth, and unceremoniously start chomping away, like they were eating green peas or something! This approach, although getting it gone fast, doesn’t allow for the savoring effect, this candy truly deserves. You “can taste it“, but that’s not what this candy truly deserves! This candy deserves an almost heavenly uplifting experience, and a certain amount of reverence as it’s being consumed, to truly “enjoy” it!
After some years of experimentation, I have found, what I call, “the savor effect”, way of honoring this supreme candy of candies. This “savor effect” requires several decision steps, and at each one you get to either speed up, or slow down the process, but remember, we want to “savor”, so use some caution!
To begin the “savor effect”, you very slowly loosen the sealed down flaps on the box. Stop and just dream for a moment, on how the items inside will taste, and your saliva glands will become activated (this is not, my preferred method). Okay, now lift the lid, and ease one of the little trays of five out of the box. At this point, you can do one of two things, you can repeat the dream process described before, in order to prolong the “savor effect” (I have to admit this is “not” my preferred method), or proceed to unceremoniously rip the thin plastic cover off the tray (I have to admit this “is” my preferred method, and, what most often happens). Now, we have a decision to make before proceeding to the next step, and that’s whether to leave them in the tray (this will prolong the dream process due to a minor difficulty of getting them out of the tray), or dump them in the open box all at once, for ease of access (my preferred method). Once this decision has been made, you can proceed to the next step.
Now that we have the candy accessible, you can pick one up reverently, like you are holding a precious glass ornament, and admire the beauty of its shape while contemplating the exquisite taste you are going have inside the mouth. Do this for whatever time you deem appropriate, in order to prolong the “savor effect” (this is not, my preferred method).
The next step, also requires some thought process, in order to prolong the “savor effect”. Should you start on the top, or bottom to take the first bite (I alternate)? Once that decision has been made you can proceed to take just a small bite, off either one, just enough to use your tongue to slowly suck out the contents (this process can be made easier by taking an even smaller bite from the opposite side to allow for better suction), and allowing them to coat your mouth, and swirling the tongue, like tasting a fine wine, before swallowing. With a bit of practice, you can manage to extract all the juice, cream, and even the cherry without crushing the chocolate covering (my preferred method).
The final step, in order to prolong the “savor effect”, is to slowly crush the chocolate covering with your tongue, allowing ample enjoyment time before chewing and swallowing.

The above “savoring process”, can last anywhere from one to two minutes per candy, to as much as an hour, depending on your strength and willpower.

For those with low thresholds of strength and willpower, there is an alternate process described as follows!

Rip open the box, jerk that plastic wrapper off, dump them out, pop one in the mouth, and enjoy that explosion of the creamy, juicy, chocolate, mixture all at once!!

Hmmm! Think I’ll go try both methods!!!!

Please let me know which method you prefer , and hope you reach the ultimate “savor effect“, either way!

How should a Christian view politics?

One of the most difficult things I have had to come to grips with lately, given our current situation in America, is how should I as a Christian, feel, and react, to how our government is working today. I see a country that is in moral, and financial decline, at a much faster rate than I feel comfortable with.  My first inclination is to blame our elected officials, and they bear a great deal of it, but, “we”, elected, “them”, so, therein lies the main problem!

Here are some things I’ve found out through a bit of research.

“There is no doubt that our responsibility to government is to obey the laws and be good citizens (Romans 13:1-2). God has established all authority and He does so for our benefit, “to commend those who do right” (1 Peter 2:13-15). Paul tells us in Romans 13:1-8 that it is the government’s responsibility to rule in authority over us—hopefully for our good—to collect taxes, and to keep the peace.”

“The Bible gives us two unassailable truths regarding our stance towards politics and government.”

“The first truth is that the will of God permeates and supersedes every aspect of life. It is God’s will that takes precedence over everything and everyone (Matthew 6:33). God’s plans and purposes are fixed and His will is inviolable. What He has purposed, He will bring to pass, and no government can thwart His will (Daniel 4:34-35). God’s plans and purposes are fixed and His will is inviolable. What He has purposed, He will bring to pass, and no government can thwart His will (Daniel 4:34-35). In fact, it is God who “sets up kings and deposes them” (Daniel 2:21) because “the Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes” (Daniel 4:17). A clear understanding of this truth will help us to see that politics is merely a method God uses to accomplish His will. Even though evil men abuse their political power, meaning it for evil, God means it for good, working “all things together for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).”

“Second, we must grasp the fact that our government cannot save us! Only God can. We never read in the New Testament of Jesus or any of the apostles expending any time or energy schooling believers on how to reform the pagan world of its idolatrous, immoral, and corrupt practices via the government. The apostles never called for believers to demonstrate civil disobedience to protest the Roman Empire’s unjust laws or brutal schemes. Instead, the apostles commanded the first-century Christians, as well as us today, to proclaim the gospel and live lives that would give clear evidence to its transforming power.”

We, as Christians, sometimes fail to do the two things God directs us to do.

First and foremost, we are to spread the gospel about God, and Jesus, our salvation. If we are out doing, what we should be doing, the way God wants us to, we will change the moral behavior because of people actually becoming more aware of what they may be doing, as sinful.
Second, and although not as important as the first, we fail to do the things necessary to have an efficient, and God fearing government in place. We need to do such things as, qualify, and vote for leaders, that most identify with what we believe as Christians.

“In the U.S.A., in recent elections, about 2 of every 5 of self-professed Christians took that right for granted and did not vote. About 1 in 5 self-professed, eligible Christians are not even registered to vote.”

We as Christians, with the leadership of God, can boldly do, what no elected official on earth can do, give true “change” to America, by changing peoples attitudes through sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior!!!

Research your candidates, choose those with the characters you feel closest to doing what’s best for America, and what God would have them do under His leadership,
then vote!!

We do, after all, have to live here, till Jesus returns for us, why not make it a better place to be, until He does!!
Spread the gospel of Jesus Christ!

Divorce Agreement

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists, and Obama supporters, et. al.:

We have stuck together since the late 1950s for the sake of the kids, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has clearly run its course.

Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right for us all, so let’s just end it on friendly terms. We can smile and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way.

Here is a model separation agreement:

1. Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by land mass, each taking a similar portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy. Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides had such distinct and disparate tastes.

2. We don’t like redistributive taxes, so you can keep them.

3. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU.

4. Since you hate guns and war, we’ll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA, and the military.

5. We’ll take the nasty, smelly oil industry and you can go with wind, solar, and bio-diesel.

6. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore, and Rosie O’Donnell. You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them.

7. We’ll keep capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, WalMart, and Wall Street.

8. You can have your beloved lifelong welfare dwellers, food stamps, homeless homeboys, hippies, druggies, and illegal aliens.

9. We’ll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO’s and rednecks.

10. We’ll keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood .

11. You can make nice with Iran and Palestine and we’ll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us.

12. You can have the peaceniks and war protesters. When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we’ll help provide them security.

13. We’ll keep our Judeo-Christian values.

14. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism, political correctness, and Shirley McLain. You can also have the U.N., but we will no longer be paying the bill.

15. We’ll keep the SUV’s, pickup trucks, and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Subaru station wagon you can find.

16. You can give everyone healthcare if you can find any practicing doctors.

17. We’ll continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right.

18. We’ll keep “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” and “The National Anthem.”

19. I’m sure you’ll be happy to substitute “Imagine”, “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing”, “Kum Ba Ya,” or “We Are the World”.

20. We’ll practice trickle down economics and you can continue to give trickle up poverty your best shot.

21. Since it often so offends you, we’ll keep our history, our constitution, our name, and our flag.

22. Would you agree to this? If so, please pass it along to other like-minded liberal and conservative patriots and if you do not agree, just hit delete. In the spirit of friendly parting, I’ll bet you answer which one of us will need whose help in 15 years.

Sincerely,
John J. Wall
Law Student and an American

P.S.: Also, please take Ted Turner, Sean Penn, Martin Sheen, Barbra Steisand, and Jane Fonda with you.

P.S.S.: And you won’t have to “Press 1 for English” when you call our country.

Forward this every time you get it! Let’s keep this going; maybe some of it will start sinking in!

For the record, I did not write this, but did think it made some sense, as I’m a common sense conservative. Some, may not know what that means, and if you don’t, I can’t help you! You may have your own thoughts, and that’s fine! So far, we’re a country that enjoys freedom of speech!!

THE GOOD OLD DAYS

I remember as a kid, you could go to a local grocery, and for the great price of twenty cents, purchase a Nehi orange drink, and a Baby Ruth candy bar, that it took both hands to hold it. You could, for the same price, buy the same drink, and a Moon Pie, nearly as big as a saucer. I fully understand what they call inflation, but have never figured out why it doesn’t apply to the product its self, just the price.
I also remember going to the movies, and only being charged twenty five cents to get in. You gave fifty cents for the popcorn , and maybe another fifty cents for the drink. The movies were free of foul language, and you never seen a naked woman, anybody bleeding, or having a sexual encounter with a person of the same sex. You had no need for a rating system, because the movies were all “clean”!
I remember the days when you could leave your doors unlocked at night, or even while you were gone from home for the day, without fearing for your safety, or that someone would steal you blind. Oh, it happened on occasion, but not like it does today!
I remember the days when you didn’t know what a “Pedophile” was, let alone, have one living in your neighborhoods, or, having an idea what “crack” was, other than something that showed when you bent over with a too short shirt on.
America has changed over the years, and it’s not for the better! Our financial system is out of whack, and our moral compass has spun clean off the dial! We live in a “Me first, and what I want, society” these days, and it’s heartbreaking to an old guy like myself, that remembers those days”.

You may not be the same age as me, but I bet today, you wish you had just “some”, of those things that I remember from, “THE GOOD OLD DAYS”!!!

Fundamental change to America

Back when I first heard the phrase, “Together we will fundamentally change America”, I had a problem with it. The “fundamentals” of America were fine! It was all the ignorance that a bloated government, cradle to grave mentality, foisted on us that messed us up. We need to get back to part of that phrase, the “fundamentals” part. We need leaders that believe in Americans, and America, as she once was, not how they’d like it to be. I know it’s cliché to say, “We need to take back America”, but it has a ring of truth to it. We just need to rearrange the words to say, “We need to take America back”, back to where she once stood, as the leader of the free world, where a person rose to prosperity by the sweat of his brow and hard work, combined with a good work ethic, not by government handouts to buy votes!

We’ve become a nation of takers, rather than givers. Everybody, it seems like, wants to know, “what’s in it for me”. We used to reach out to our neighbors and lend them a hand up, and we didn’t depend on anyone from the government to do things for us. We had pride in ourselves as individuals. Now, we stand with our hands stretched out, asking, “May I have some more please”, and tend to blame those with more, for our own misfortunes. It’s time to stop the madness, before we self destruct!

It can be done, but not by our current leaders! Time to get back to basics, and basically, we need new, smarter leaders, that love our country as it was before it was taken over by a progressive, socialistic, “intellectual” group of idealist, dedicated to destroying all that America is, or ever was!

May God have mercy on us if we fail, and fail we will, unless we return to our fundamental roots, as established in the constitution, before they were distorted by progressivism!!!!

STOPLIGHTS

According to those in control, they are called “traffic control devices“, or, to the less informed “traffic lights”. To me, they’re a nuisance, and I call them what they really are, “a STOP light”! While I enjoy the relaxation one gets from sitting for 2-5 minutes, amid multitudes of fellow commuters, enjoying the camaraderie that can only be attained by physically being present in said situation, I find they (STOP lights)have the uncanny ability to know exactly when I’m approaching, and with the speed of an attacking cheetah, will change from green, to yellow, to red, causing me to make a split second decision between running that stupid red light, or getting rear ended by some unnamed vehicular assailant crowding my rear bumper, because heaven forbid, and I repeat myself , “they enjoy the relaxation one gets from sitting for 2-5 minutes, amid multitudes of fellow commuters, enjoying the camaraderie that can only be attained by physically being present in said situation“!
My wife, has much more luck with these devious demons than I do (at least as long as I’m not in the car with her), since she can get across town close to 15 minutes faster than myself. I know this to be a fact, as it has happened multiples of times following her somewhere in another car, during our 41 years of marriage.
The difference in our trip times, has always been a source of irritation to me, mainly due to the fact she always points it out by the now familiar phrase, “What took you so long!”. I have finally learned to give a one word explanation to this question, combined with a dirty look that word is, “stoplight”, I do this  in order to gain back some of the time lost, “getting to enjoy the relaxation one gets from sitting for 2-5 minutes, amid multitudes of fellow commuters, enjoying the camaraderie that can only be attained by physically being present in said situation“!
To some, they are “traffic control devises” to others, they are “traffic lights”, to me, they have always been, are, and will always be, a STOP light, and I could do with a lot less of them, so I wouldn’t have to, “get to enjoy the relaxation one gets from sitting for 2-5 minutes, amid multitudes of fellow commuters, enjoying the camaraderie that can only be attained by physically being present in said situation“!
When the above STOP light hits my town, I’m staying home because, “I don’t want to get to enjoy the relaxation one gets from sitting for 2-5 minutes, amid multitudes of fellow commuters, enjoying the camaraderie that can only be attained by physically being present in said situation“!!!!
